Dialogues on Queer Design (FLOX x Queer Design Club) - March 2025

FLOX Studio partnered with Queer Design Club– an online community of more than 4,000 LGBTQ+ designers and makers– to build on, strengthen and elevate the field of queer design. Moving beyond queerness in terms of gender and sexuality, this collaboration is focused on a new conversation about queerness in terms of cultural impact.

In light of the recent US election, the first edition of In These Times: Dialogues on Queer Design focused on queer design and politics. Laura Beth Pelner of Working Families Party and Rashid Owoyele of Transekt Agency—designers, political communicators, and visual strategists—shared their personal experiences on how queer design plays an essential role in modern political campaigns, activism, and social movements.

In the first half of the chat, Laura and Rashid explored the ways queer creativity shapes political narratives, influences public opinion, and inspires long-lasting societal change. In the second half of the chat, we will invite the audience to engage in an open conversation about the ways queerness has played a role in politics.
